Worship

I wonder if we were in the first century with the Apostles, if their church service would look like the modern church, or if they could recognize it.  I imagine that the most important thing to them concerning worship would be that they came into God's presence and tarried, that the most important thing would be God being pleased with their offering.  That is my desire when it comes to worship.

Sermons

In that early church, I wonder if the sermon was "bless me" or "bless Him".  Today, the message of the cross is no longer in vogue.  The idea of being a radical Christian and laying down your life as a living sacrifice is no longer popular.  Yet if you come to God's House, that's the type of message that you'll hear, and if you are like I am, you need to be encouraged not to settle for the "normal" Christian life, but to press toward the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Bible Study

In addition, we have in depth Bible Study.  In our Bible study, my desire is that you get more than just a shallow foundation for your faith.  You will not only study the Bible, but also learn how to study for yourself.  You will learn how to use the many references at your disposal.

Evangelism

At God's House we support evangelism with our money and our lives.  We realize that when people are in right relationship with God, they can't help but evangelize.  We also support foreign missions in Mexico and in closed countries through Voice of the Martyrs.

Giving

At God's House you will find one thing missing.  Seldom do we "take up" an offering, if we do, it will be for something special.  You will not hear weekly messages or pleas for money.  The way the modern church has acted about money has brought much shame to the name of Jesus.  We do believe in giving, and will teach about it, but not from the standpoint of what will God do for me, but what can I do for God.  We believe that God will bless us, that His blessings will overtake us, as we keep our focus on Him.  For our regular giving we have an offering box in the back of the church.

Differences

Our congregation is different in the fact that we meet on Saturday, and also in that we celebrate the festivals found in the Bible, such as Passover (1 Cor 5:7-8) and the Feast of Tabernacles (Zech 14).  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.  In most other ways we are similar in doctrine to a non-denominational church.

At this point our congregation is a small group of believers that have a hunger for God.  I believe, as we remain faithful, God will add to our ranks, as the number of people hungering for God continues to grow.
